Mettendorf, a charming village in the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate, is idyllically situated in the Enzbachtal valley, around 40 kilometers northwest of Trier and close to the border with the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Mettendorf has an all-day elementary school and a daycare center. There is also a sports hall, a sports field and a DFB mini playing field. Mettendorf also has a village community center, a barbecue hut and a children's playground.
Sights and culture:
- Catholic parish church of St. Margareta: The church, originally built in 1477, was rebuilt and extended in the 19th century. The adjoining church forecourt is adorned by the Maximilian Kolbe monument with fountain and sundial. A historic bell from 1520 completes the ensemble.
- Historic farmsteads: Stroll through Mettendorf and discover magnificent farmsteads and houses with carved doors from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Many of these buildings have been lovingly preserved and converted.
- Mary Help of Christians Chapel on Lascheid: built in 1957 on the basis of a vow, the chapel houses a statue of the Virgin Mary from Lourdes. A 14-station Way of the Cross leads to the chapel and invites you to take a contemplative walk.

- Hiking and cycling tours: The officially signposted hiking trails no. 47, 48, 49 and 50 of the Southern Eifel Nature Park and the premium hiking trail Schluchtenpfad of the NaturWanderPark delux lead around Mettendorf. In addition, the Enztal cycle path, which is connected to the national network, runs through Mettendorf.
Traditional events:
- Fair: On the first weekend before October 28, the annual fair takes place, a festival with music, dancing and culinary specialties.
- Karneval: An Karneval steht die Eifel Kopf, und Mettendorf ist mittendrin im närrischen Treiben. Bereits eine Woche vor dem Fastnachtssonntag lädt das Kinderprinzenpaar vom KV „Ees Kanna“ zum traditionellen Karnevalsumzug ein und eröffnet damit den Straßenkarneval in der Eifel.
